The John James Audubon State Park is a beautiful park and a great place for families.
Conner and I went on this hike in June of 2013. He was 6 at the time. This hike is a fairly easy 2 mile to the very nice Wilderness Lake . He had very little problem on this hike. The first and last bit of the loop is actually along a blacktop road. The trail is kept up very well and the terrain is not bad. I would suggest this trail to any parents of younger kids. I will say pay attention when you get to the Boy Scout Shelter. The trail splits right before and one trail is a down and back to the lake while the other is the actual loop around the lake.
