The boys and I went on this hike in Feb. of 2014. Conner was 7 at the time and Maddox was 2 getting ready to turn 3. This was his first big boy hike. The trail was actually pretty muddy that day, but it had rained a few days in a row before we went. The 1.4 mile loop trail leads you along beautiful Lincoln Lake and the old fire tower. The trail was pretty easy on the boys, except keeping a 3 year old boy out of the mud. There was a couple of hills, but the boys didn't complain. They both wanted to climb the fire tower. The steps up are steep, but the staircase is enclosed with a fence for safety. This is a great little hike for the whole family. And once you are in the top of the fire tower you can see a long ways in all four directions. Also if you have never been to Lincoln State Park there is plenty to do there, besides hike.
