Conner and I went on a cub scout trip to Angel Mounds in September of 2015. He was 8 at the time. Angel Mounds was the home of the Mississippian Indians between 1050 and 1400 A.D. We started off in the museum with many interactive exhibits to look at. After we left the museum we made our way to the actual Angel Mounds Site. Along the trail we took we went by a reconstructed stockade wall like they used as defense. You then pass a residential house that you can go into. Along the trail you see many small to large mounds. Some look as if they have not been researched yet. In the middle of the site is a very large mound, that is Mound A. Mound A is the largest mound in the site. It was more than likely where the chiefs house would have been. You can climb on top of Mound A with a nice view 180 degrees. After Mound A you make your way past a reconstructed round house. From there we made our way back to the museum. There are more mounds there you can walk to if you would like. There are also hiking trail inside and outside of the site.
It was a good, historical hike that the whole family can do.
